Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau had recorded the "Jedermann" monologues in 1963, with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by the composer, Frank Martin. At the same sessions, he also recorded the Drei Fragmente aus "Der Sturm" (Three Excerpts from "The Tempest") from Martin's opera based on Shakespeare's play; DF-D had originally been slated to create the role of Prospero at the Vienna State Opera in 1956, but was unable to fulfill the commitment, due to illness.

What do others think - this new layout for UA-cam in my opinion, is horrible. Comments seem to be relegated with UA-cam just pushing its advertising. I accept that adverts are part of the deal, but UA-cam is soon going to lose users, and certainly I am less inclined especially as I find that lots of videos previously on this platform have vanished. Also adverts 4 minutes from the end.. UA-cam is getting desperate. I have listened/ watched other programmes here and notices in the oat few days adverts coming every few minutes.

Wonderfully precise on the first movement. Very hard to perform with such precision between the strings and winds. I say this as a former musician in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra who performed this years ago. Also, excellent acoustics - dry enough to hear all the nuance. This is a go-to performance.

I do not play piano but after having listened to tons of classical music and being a great admirer of Haydn (both), Bruckner ("the greatest gift of God to humanity" according to Celibidache), CPE Bach (a father is always proud of a son surpassing him), Schubert, Weber and many others like Wagner, Messiaen, Ravel, Albéniz, Rodrigo, and Beethoven and Bach of course I must confess that Czerny would be the only reason ever for me to play piano.
